Our MSSP client onboarding process

Published: May 27, 2025

Whether switching to a new managed security service provider (MSSP) or outsourcing your technology support for the first time, working with a new supplier can appear daunting. At SilvaTech, our comprehensive onboarding process will ensure a smooth transition and that we meet all your technology support and security needs. Here’s how it works.

Whenever we take on a new client, we invest time up front to ensure correct system configuration. Getting this right from the outset will enhance efficiency, productivity and security. We begin with an initial period of consultancy, which involves following a penetration test methodology to identify risks within your existing Microsoft 365 system and build out an action list for remediation or implementation.

Our onboarding process typically takes four weeks, and we offer complimentary support during this transition period.

SilvaTech MSSP onboarding process

Week 1

We arrange a call and workshop with key staff members, including the existing support provider, if needed, to understand the business’ operational needs. We request Microsoft partnership access to enable us to handle your Microsoft 365 services. Once we have access, we assess the current configuration and find any risks or improvements that need attention.

By the end of week one, we’ll have provided a complete transition action plan.

Week 2

We start Microsoft 365 configuration deployment, keeping the current configuration as much as possible to maintain the business functionality. We fully utilise the licencing capabilities by implementing services such as Microsoft Intune, information protection and Microsoft Defender for Business.

If any required changes to the Microsoft 365 configuration have an operational impact, we’ll submit a change request. We ensure that the approved change happens at a time that works for the business and limits disruption.

Week 3

We set up the free services such as Microsoft 365 backup, password manager, signature management and vulnerability management. We apply the final changes to the Microsoft 365 configuration.

We perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on selected users. This process involves erasing and reconfiguring the user’s devices to the newly implemented standards to enable comprehensive testing.

Week 4

Following UAT completion and approval of the new configuration, we revoke the access of the previous support provider and visit your offices. We require all staff to be on-site so their device can be erased and reconfigured to the new settings. This step is crucial to eliminate any old configuration.

By the end of week four, all testing and configuration will be complete, and your IT support will be fully migrated to SilvaTech.
